Heist of a Heart
A poetic microfiction.
Amidst clinking of glasses
And murmurs in facets
Alex played bar dice,
his mind on a heist.
It wasn't a vault filled with riches or gems,
it was the heart of a woman named Evelyn.
The epitome of grace, charm, and beauty,
she could’ve come straight out of a movie.
She’d drawn his attention from the moment their eyes met.
But stealing her heart would require the stage to be set.
With the skills of a wordsmith, Alex crafted a poem,
words to steal her heart so he might take her home:
Your eyes, like stars, ignite my core,
a celestial fire that burns forevermore.
With every glance, a universe I see,
bathed in the radiance of your mystery.
Your laughter, like music, dances through my mind,
a symphony that leaves me entwined.
So, Evelyn, let this poem be my plea,
a tender verse to unlock your heart's decree.
May these words be the key to open the door,
and steal your heart, forevermore.
As the bar quieted for the night, Evelyn read,
but was her heart stolen by what Alex had pled?
Her laughter, like music, played a circus tune.
She read it aloud and he felt the buffoon.
