Heading in the Right Direction

Feel the fear and do it anyway

She has found her courage to show her vulnerability,

In an effort to forestall the pain on the horizon,

Forgiveness is battling with the closure of her heart,

In a spontaneous moment she feels enliven.

**

Time is of the essence, she’s well aware,

She knows the possibilities are not endless,

Soon the idea of one will come to fruition,

Bringing a new round in which she will bless.

**

Sunshine attempts to peek from the darkest of clouds,

As she bares her soul to the experience of a relative stranger,

Her words paint the picture of her greatest betrayal,

And her shattered heart is now in danger.

**

Liquified grief rains upon her cheeks,

Allowing the darkest clouds to hover over her day,

Silence the destructive force hailing in the background,

As she wallows in the emotions, determined to have their say.

**

The roar of agony sits upon her heart in the form of a brick,

She battles the foray to stop the building blocks from stacking,

Change is the golden rule of absolution,

Necessary in the attempt to stop the long term attacking.

**

Shivering in fear of the thought of tomorrow,

Although determined she is going to soon shine,

Pushing through the challenges that greet her mornings,

Turning her strengths into the absolute divine.

**

The future calls her name in trepid anticipation,

Adoring the persistence she gives to her dreams,

A tornado of strength barrelling towards her destiny,

Quietly scolding her misdemeanours and screams.

**

Words of promise write her the happiest of endings,

Allowing her to scurry the wishes she deems best,

She sets her intentions and lets them fly free,

Knowing her higher power will do the rest.

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
