Hawaiian Angel

A Hawaiian Angel who made Snow Angels

The experience of your soul was fleeting.

A friendship that spanned within a short time frame, bursting with adventure on the grounds of Nashville, I don't think this grief will ever go away.

You loved the sea and the sun,

You found love and all her melodies,

You oozed kindness, gentleness, and were generous,

Your simple presence acted as a remedy,

You indulged in the butters of peanut,

And were soothed by the sound of crashing waves,

I hold on super tight to our memories, but I fear and ache that they'll eventually fade.

So here is where I write them all down, preserving them for a rainy day.

You piggybacked me down the drunken street of Broadway,

We squished into an Uber, 6 deep and took the backway,

You shared every beer with us on the sticky dancefloor of PLAY,

Laid on the front hood of Dora, on the rooftop dorm of TK,

We watched the lights of the city quickly flicker away,

We jumped fences, ripped holes in our pants and broke rules,

We trespassed on not-so-ready property, dodging the boys in blue,

You oozed the energy only found beyond the sands of Oahu,

Your spirit as delicate as a Hawaiian butterfly, making anew,

Your 'CHEHOOs' full of rich tones, vibrant with pride that celebrated your home,

Your aura was strong and centred like balancing rocks on a sand dome,

No one would've known you were a time-ticking clock,

The crew fell apart when we heard your heart finally stopped...

I thought nothing could dim the twinkle in your eyes,

Joy wrapped around your cheeks as you donned a dimple-filled smile,

Thank you for making snow angels with me,

Thank you for completing the Nashville exchange family.

I hope heaven is full of big waves, and you catch every single one of them.

I'm sorry we couldn't dig you out from the darkness that lingered within,

I pray you're at peace now, I hope you feel light and feel our love from beyond,

And when the time is right .... I'll meet you again, on the beach, we can sit on the shore, watch the sunset, and listen to all your favourite songs.

Thank you Chris, your energy and the memories we made float in this lifetimes existence...

.... I'll see you again.
