Happy as Robin Williams

poetry

By CadmaPublished 12 months ago 1 min read

I’m as happy as Robin Williams

I smile like he do through and through

But deep down the phrase bothers you

A jester’s smile that goes on for miles

All the meanwhile how I feel is filed

Away like locked thoughts, not allowed to run free

Because if I let it, something will happen to me

Yes you have needs, I’m here to help or even serve

But when do I get the life I deserve

I’m glad you’re happy, and to see you laugh

I’m happy to be of service, for what you see on the surface

Beneath the make up, the crinkle in the eyes

I’ve practiced my laugh for hours and well

So that no one deep down could never tell

How happy I truly am, as happy as Robin Williams

I know deep down, unmedicated on the inside

Glowing on the outside

Would it truly shock you if I pulled it off?

With no unplanned savior, simply finding relief

How comical it would be to me, to finally be relieved

The list of needs you have, grows longer and longer

And it drains on my soul, it’s like the reaper forgot to collect one

And in this body I rot, like a forgotten lost plot

Externally I’ll give you the show you seek

So you’ll never know what kind of happiness i hold beneath
