haiku june june
1st week in june 2023 in haiku
and five months are done
just like that, that time has gone
what will we do now
. . . [6/1/23]
. . .
and the birds still chirp
and the trees are standing still
the world is still here
. . . [6/1/23]
. . .
did you sleep in peace
did you really get a break
today will pass too
. . . [6/1/23]
. . .
and i sit and pick
gazing off and just thinking
what is that about?
. . . [6/1/23]
. . .
take some breaths instead
maybe you just need a break
maybe it's to rest
. . . [6/1/23]
. . .
it is time to sleep
the water's are poured and set
now for read-y time
. . . [6/1/23]
. . .
how do you want to
how do you want to do this
should we do it now?
. . . [6/1/23]
. . .
covers are cozy
we come into our safe cave
we stay for 'round 8
. . . [6/1/23]
. . .
sit still and calmly
a daily practice worth it
to just be with self
. . . [6/2/23]
. . .
but what is self though
is it just a made up thing
but i feel something
. . . [6/2/23]
. . .
they are here again
because they always will be
the birds birds birds birds
. . . [6/2/23]
. . .
but what sort are they
maybe tomorrow i'll sit
and look into it
. . . [6/2/23]
. . .
sometimes i just scream
but usually it's a cry
got to let it out
. . . [6/2/23]
. . .
how much do we care
about what's happening here
do we care at all
. . . [6/2/23]
. . .
we live together
all of us live together
this crazy thing, life
. . . [6/2/23]
. . .
brother and sisters
we are all getting older
we are grown up now
. . . [6/2/23]
. . .
i'm not very close
i'm actu'lly pretty far
i practiced running [away]
. . . [6/2/23]
. . .
i would run to trees
and i would take secret walks
i wanted to leave
. . . [6/2/23]
. . .
how busy are you
i mean, really, how busy
we're just so busy
. . . [6/2/23]
. . .
we did this to us
all this stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff
we could all do less
. . . [6/2/23]
. . .
what do you say, huh
let's all do less together
maybe we could change
. . . [6/2/23]
. . .
what to really say
what to really let outside
that less would be more
. . . [6/2/23]
. . .
let’s keep some quiet
let’s all just quiet down now
we all are yelling
. . . [6/2/23]
. . .
but maybe we should
the way a child yells, stop
because it’s enough
. . . [6/2/23]
. . .
i do like to sit
to just sit and really be
but is that being
. . . [6/2/23]
. . .
so, what is being
can we even really know
guess just a feeling
. . . [6/2/23]
. . .
it’s got to be more
a way of life it must be
or just a moment
. . . [6/2/23]
. . .
this one and that one
take a breath now and listen
that is just being
. . . [6/2/23]
. . .
it's still the 2nd
just checked - it's 11:10
suprised it's june, still
. . . [6/2/23]
. . .
finally, we sleep
though it felt nice to be up
late on a friday
. . . [6/2/23]
. . .
i wonder what's next
feels like there's a change coming
it is happening
. . . [6/2/23]
. . .
reason to worry
is because of hurt before
i'm trying not to
. . . [6/2/23]
. . .
dog and ball are out
many dogs and many balls
they love the ocean
. . . [6/3/23]
. . .
can you hear the waves
are you really listening
take a breath and hear
. . . [6/3/23]
. . .
mouth tastes of almond
soft boiled eggs will be the next
then orange slices
. . . [6/3/23]
. . .
wave upon wave, bird
boat, boat, boat, and the offing
it is the best sight
. . . [6/3/23]
. . .
oh my, look at you
such a sweet, big ole beach dog
have a nice day, dog
. . . [6/3/23]
. . .
a fight about words
we made them all up you know
we like what we like
. . . [6/3/23]
. . .
let it out is key
it can't stay inside of us
better when it's out
. . . [6/3/23]
. . .
i hear you back there
you want to play volley ball
no dog position
. . . [6/3/23]
. . .
thirteen years ago
you asked, what you doon later
been together since
. . . [6/3/23]
. . .
padddle a bit more
a little more than you think
then you'll get your wave
. . . [6/3/23]
. . .
you just write and write
and when you write it feels good
so you write some more
. . . [6/3/23]
. . .
as the skin reddens
i turn my body to sun
my legs uneven
. . . [6/3/23]
. . .
i could stay all day
it's so good out there right now
you all must think so
. . . [6/3/23]
. . .
i am at such peace
that we live here is lovely
and you there, napping
. . . [6/3/23]
. . .
it's waves, birds, then boats
boats, water and the offing
just soaking it in
. . . [6/3/23]
. . .
the sand on my feet
all the grains connect with pores
part of what's good here
. . . [6/3/23]
. . .
a balloon fell in
it was in the sky now here
where will it go next
. . . [6/3/23]
. . .
a lady grabbed it
it's going in the garbage
end of balloon's life
. . . [6/3/23]
. . .
and it is june! ok then. i hope you've had a good year so far, or are figuring out how to make this one even a little bit better. thank you for taking in some of my haiku - writing them, sitting with them and letting them come has been a lovely addition to my life. thanks for reading -- kory
