The world has turned grey.
Glutinous cumuli clog the air,
Turbid ash-heaps pressing down
Choking weight, portending
Dull iron drops to pound
Stripped faded tree-corpses
And moil raw black dirt
Into clotted sludge that crams
My head: thoughts crumple,
Congeal, bleached into fog,
Until I learn to see reversed,
Pearl-veined mist ethereal
Bedewing my mind, radiating
Forth to repaint in silver-tone
Rich fusions of earth and water
Reflecting dark shimmers,
Elegant images of regal trees
Unashamed in sere-skinned
Nudity beneath the flowing
Damascus steel arch of sky.
The world has turned grey.
