Gratitude

(Be thankful basically)

Gratitude

Thank you god

For this beautiful life

Thank you for the trees

Which sustain our every breath

Thank you for the gravity

Which sustains our every step

Thank you,

Endlessly

For our inclusion in this masterpiece

In the great tapestry of life

Whose omniscience

Is your ignorance

Please, hollow me out

Into a vessel of change

Let me

Be a fragrant mangrove

On a squalid shore

Let me rise with the sun

And set only with my own satisfaction

Mother god

From your waters I have sprung

And to your currents I shall forever be returned

Help me be strong enough

To know that

Which thought cannot grasp

Let me be firm enough

To demand,

And not to ask

And help me remember

That duty

Which whispers softly

To my heart

My duty to bring about

This verdant jungle

Beneath my eyelids

My duty to swim amidst

Those misty rivers

Beyond the soul
