Goosebumps And Winter Winds

Shifting Skin

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

My skin doesn’t fit me

It doesn’t feel right

It makes me feel puny

It’s uncomfortably tight

It pulls at my chest

Always filling a void

If I were to confess

Leaves me feeling annoyed

Created with good intentions

Of fantasy and hope

No longer can be mentioned

As they dangle from a rope

Thrown to send a rescue

As a signal of despair

Somehow I missed the cue

With nothing else to wear

I find myself alone

Lost here in my skin

Ravaged to the bone

Where no one can get in

The weight of me is gone

Still lost here in this skin

It chills me to the core

To learn, it may never fit again
