Golden Warship
Character Poem: Daleyza Maite
Gold is one of those rare things
Both precious and useful
Made of romance, lightning, and stings
The strong and the youthful
Now let’s propose an experiment,
A song of science
Let us suspend merriment
And build an island of violence
Behold the creativity!
Sheer forces and charms
An answer for every nature
United in anthems of arms
It all made sense
You know what they say about ducks and rows
Beautiful and powerful and faithful and true
Never trust both ocean and sky
Too much blue, too much blue
Gold is heavy, but anything can float
Even gravity surrenders to money eventually
The ocean is full of eyes
Not all of them speak the language of light
Suppose there was, suppose there will be
A wartorn path to serenity
Remember when everything was simple?
How the only safety you needed was a thimble?
How did we go so far afield,
Since the seas are not the plains?
Look, there’s no arguing
We have made this warship of gold
And turned the stars into ammunition
But do not despair
Even instruments of death can be fair
Some soldiers like to play with hair
A hot meal is stronger than a bear
So don’t blame the ship, that golden mare
It’s only the means to get us there
Trust the ocean’s black, pitiless stare
It is constant, and knows that you care
