Glorious Morning
A poem about the beauty of awakening in the bosom of nature and love
Iridescent rays of dawns first light stroke my skin
Their touch an ambient tingle like a lover’s caress
Warmth seeps in to awaken my sleep clouded mind
Newly opened orbs gaze around in rapt worship
Basking in sights of a new day in glorious creation
Cool dew a coated mist layered on the world around me
A shroud covering the dying body of the night
As it metamorphoses into radiant morning
Damp jewels sparkle on the petals of flowers
Dripping softly to fill the cup of a sweet honeysuckle
Slaking the thirst of a well-coiffed lady bug
Monarchs flit from bloom to bloom gathering pollen
Evergreen and pine scents waft on a light breeze
Natures perfume a soothing balm to my senses
Chirping birds sing melodious greetings to the day
Lyrical warbling accompanied by trilling crickets
Bustling nature ever so much more alive
Than any rushed Times Square crowd ever was
Resting a cheekbone on one fist I gaze down
Enraptured by the new dawn’s most glorious sight
Still wrapped in silken gossamer webs of sleep
Lovely object of my eternal adoration
Lies there next to me, my heart beating in her breast
Rose lips crease in a sweet smile dimpling cheeks
As the windows to her soul slowly open, drawing me in
Delicately I move errant lock from over pert nose
Leaning, lips brush a kiss light as ghost of a feather
Across her sleep tousled hair
Good morning darling Emily
My day has now truly begun
