I want my son to be tough
To stand up in this world
and not be pulled under
I want my son to be firm
To know his place in this world
And not be made to step down
I want my son to be brave
To believe in his own heart
And not be pressured otherwise
I want my son to defend
Those who can’t defend themselves
And not just stand by with the others
~
I had to teach my son these things
For he has a heart of a lion
Gentle and giant
Nature and babies come towards him
Love and kindness seeps out of him
Souls become calm around him
He has a logic that makes sense
And a dream I can’t fathom
He is kindness in pure form
And this needs to be protected
I am teaching my son
All that I can about surviving
Whilst he teaches me
That the world still has something
worth saving
He believes in the world
And I believe in him.

Words are the centre point of our existence. If we never write anything down, did we ever really exist at all?
