Genevieve and Me

by Sarah Luchies 3 months ago in love poems
Report Story

Enjoying time with my baby

Baby soft, brunette hair

Pale flawless skin

Eyes of silver pearl seas

Full of joy within

Watching me with brilliant gaze

Loud, insistent coos

Carefully she takes the bite

And smiles as she chews

Dainty hands, so sensitive

Explore the world around

Tiny feet with chubby crease

Testing new-found ground

Soft, pink cloth caressing cheeks

A milky baby smell

The fear of messing up just once

Contented sigh dispels

So content she looks around

At tree and sky and me

I marvel at her innocence

And wonder who she'll be

In the dark of early morn

Nothing stirs but air

I cradle her in gentle arms

My Genevieve with care

I caress her soft brown hair

And those chubby cheeks

I thank God for my miracle

And kiss my baby sweet
