Every Spring my Gramma would re-paint the old tires that lined the walkway towards her cottage door.
She was a pioneer of up-cycling. Old, worn, bald and cracked, revied by bright colours, becoming circular beds for spring flowers.
Here come the crocus - confidently leading by example. Followed soon by the daffodils, tulips, and more!
Here comes Gramma - in floral on floral and sunny, paint-licked, gardening gloves.
This year she's adding tin cans - reborn using glue and dry pasta, sparkles and paint. They have been called on to bring joy to the ledge of an old window sill.
Here comes Gramma, adding a layer of paint here, more colour there. Encouraging springtime.
A section of tire, paint layers sliced just so, could speak the language of trees, showing how many seasons she brightened for us.

Thank you for reading! This work was born from the writing prompt 'Every spring my Grandmother would...'. Dedicated to the late, great, Annabell Glancie who brought the joy with every coat of paint and every song in her heart.
