Gambling is not my game
I tread a beaten path
Though I may sometimes stray from it
Always I will come back
For my heartbeats are steady
My way forward is clear
And I look not to what's behind
When it calls, I do not hear
Gambling is not my game
The dice do not entice me
Why would I risk what work has earned
Goals shine too bright inside me
I cannot see the neon lights
There is no sense of glamor
Those steady heartbeats fill my head
An insistent, constant clamor
Gambling is not my game
I have no time for play
The work is hard, but life is short
I make the most of every day
And what's worth more than moving ahead?
On this path that has no end
It is honest in its dullness
No passing glitter in each bend
Gambling is not my game
I say when you reach out a hand
If I were to take it
Would you ever understand
That this path I'm on is narrow
What if there's no space for two?
I cannot take a gamble
On the chance of loving you
