Frost's Departure

The spring air was welcomed

With open windows, doors,

And arms-

A rising wind with a chilled entrance,

A warm embrace before exit-

Moody attitudes fluctuated

Catching sight of pixie dust

And the scent of blooming florals,

Hearts bouncing with the rays

Of a sun set high,

As dreamers remembered

Where they left off

And worker-bees

Continued projects long stalled-

Resuming a life

As though never paused,

The recollection of things stored

During Winter’s reign-

A village on the verge of upheaval

When the last frost passed-

A vagrant making its way

To the northern lands-

Before torches were raised

And fire set to Earth

Awaiting the warming nature

Of Spring and her followers-

A departure meant to save,

A departure only wanted until the sun

Grows too hot, too powerful

In a world dying of thirst.
