A young man, weary, with a heart so heavy
Sought the wise to ease his sorrow's tether
"Why is fate so cruel, so painfully unfair?"
He pleaded, his eyes filled with despair
The sage, with a gleam in his weathered eyes
Picked up a pebble, a simple, common prize
He tossed it, with a flick of his wizened hand
Into a pile of rocks, across the scattered land
"Go, my child, and find the pebble I have thrown"
The wise man said, his voice calm, yet clearly shown
The young man searched, his hands toiling with great care
But amidst the stones, the pebble was nowhere to be there
Defeated, he returned, his spirit now subdued
When the sage, without a word, seized the youth's gold ring
He hurled it, with a mighty swing, into the rocky mound
And said, "Now, retrieve the ring that I have found"
With renewed vigor, the young man scanned the ground
Until, a glimmer of gold, his searching eyes had found
The ring, shining bright, stood out from the rest
And the young man's heart, with a newfound hope, was blessed
The wise man, silent, let the lesson sink within
As the youth's realization began to dawn, his mind to win
"If I am but a pebble, unremarkable and plain
How can I expect life's riches, its blessings to attain?"
He bowed his head, his heart now filled with clarity
"The fault was not in fate, but in my own depravity
I have been so consumed by my own self-pity
That I've failed to see the power within, my own inherent ability"
The sage nodded, a smile upon his weathered face
"The path to fulfillment lies not in fate's embrace
But in the choices you make, the person you become
The shine you cultivate, until your light overcomes"
The young man, now enlightened, his spirit reborn
Embraced the lesson, his heart no longer forlorn
"I shall shed my pebble-like existence, and become gold
Shining bright, my story yet to be told"
With renewed determination, he set forth anew
Leaving behind the sorrows that once held him askew
For in the wise man's lesson, he had found the key
To unlock the greatness that lay within, waiting to be free

Postscript:
As the final words of this poetic parable fade, a profound sense of transformation and empowerment lingers in the air, the journey we have witnessed, from the young man's initial despair to his ultimate enlightenment, serves as a powerful reminder that the true measure of our lives lies not in the whims of fate, but in the choices we make and the person we choose to become. Through the sage's masterful lesson, we have been reminded that we are not mere pebbles, insignificant and unremarkable, but gems waiting to be polished and unleashed upon the world, it is our responsibility to shed the mantle of self-pity, to cultivate the inherent brilliance within, and to forge a future that shines as brightly as the golden ring the young man reclaimed. These verses have inspired us to embrace our own power, to reflect on the distractions that have hindered our growth, and to undertake the courageous journey of self-actualization, for in the end, it is not fate that defines us, but the extraordinary that we are capable of becoming.
