Freedom 101
Poetic commentary on the irony of freedom.
Freedom.
It's a peculiar word.
By definition, it's impossible for all to attain,
Which, at first, seems incomprehensibly absurd,
For we've been told that freedom is everyone's right,
But much to our distain,
Things seen are not things said and heard.
It seems such a vision was far too utopic,
A fleeting dream which was myopic,
For freedom is never given, it is won.
If you want it, you'll have to take it from someone.
And so the irony of freedom itself is:
In order for one to truly have it,
They need the power to restrict someone else's.
