Forest Trail Footprints
A tale of wonder to unfold
Amidst the tranquil forest's hush,
A winding trail lay hidden deep,
And on its path, a sight so lush,
A mystery to unravel and keep.
For there upon the earthen floor,
Unusual prints did mark the way,
A trace of something gone before,
That left its mark and did not stay.
Not like the prints of deer or hare,
Nor like the paw of wolf or bear,
But shaped like nothing seen elsewhere,
A form unknown, both strange and rare.
Perhaps a creature, yet unseen,
That roams the woods in secret ways,
Or maybe something else between,
A spirit from forgotten days.
Or it could be a trick of mind,
A simple thing with meaning small,
A fleeting thought that's left behind,
A mystery that's not there at all.
But still the prints, they beckon on,
A tale of wonder to unfold,
A mystery that's not quite gone,
And a story yet to be told.
