A Spark Of Hope

a lone ember rose into the darkness, floating away in the night

searching for some tinder or spark to ignite

traveling for miles, a passion burning within

with the air that it needed to rekindle a flame

searching divine supplication to replenish its strength

settling into some kindling to recapture its breath

creating a smoulder to salvage new life

stirring and brewing to flicker a light

from a desire to survive, an innate need to burn

clinging to the heat it felt when first it was born

carrying the weight and exigency, simply to be

encouraging the fire and the passion in me

I am that ember floating away on the breeze

when the pain took ahold, and brought me to my knees

a small fire remained, deep inside it took start

allowing the purging and cleansing of my heart

disposing the refuge, saying goodbye to the past

only then, could I be made new, claiming a new start

although the fire seemed diminished, inside it burned hot

renewing what was important, things the blaze had forgotten
