The Flightless Bird

The song you will sing is love; such is the love you will find in his kingdom- our love for you is everlasting.

The touch you will receive is soft, reassuring, delicate; such as your gentle wings that you have used to surround us.

The wind you see is strong; it will guide you into peace, comfort, and tranquility for ever after.

The light you will find is warm; and it will soothe your soul.; such as a mother's unconditional adoration and support.

The last and the most difficult part for the flightless bird is not the flight itself, but it's the thought of leaving behind her nest. Her entire lifetime has revolved around time spent in that nest. She simply cannot take flight in knowing that in this nest,

She has gathered. She has collected. She has protected. She has loved. She has cried. She has smiled. She has nurtured. She has mothered. She has lived.

And then within that one small nest, you will find, lies the flightless birds home- the flightless bird's heart. So it is not out of fear that the flightless bird will not leave- It is by love that she chooses to stay.

But a day will come when the flightless bird will attempt her departure. A day will come when she will recognize that she can no longer remain. A sudden moment will arrive when she will learn that the love that she is leaving behind, is not, and cannot be forgotten and within that moment, she flies.

And when the flightless bird takes flight- She will be free.
