Everyone wants to win. I know I do.Friendly competition, to some degree, is even necessary in some contexts.
But the win at all costs attitude can have negative consequences for relationships, esecially significant ones. The jealousy that sometimes arises easily turns bosom buddies into foes, which is a tremendous pity.
What is the balance? A win-win situation.Though not always realistic, we should strive for these when we work with others. Not easily achieved, but it is on Stephen Covey's list of 7 habits.
It is a lot like fitting the pieces of an intricate jigsaw. You know how hair-tearing it is to fit one of those 1000 piece puzzles. Finding a mutually satisfying solution in contentious situations is the epitome of frustration.
It takes agreement on common goals, interests, communication and sometimes finding alternatives when the going gets tough.
While there are some aspects of life we have little control over, we can strive towards that. Let's fit the jigsaw, and enjoy these senryus.
Loose puzzle pieces
Fitting pieces thrown askew
Hidden in shadows
Small, concealed pieces
Well-obscured in little piles
Each has a partner.
Small pieces must sync
Reach out and find each other
Fixed, with shared consent.
