First Year in California

I dream of trips I wish we had
A coastal head rush by the bay
A redwood daydream interrupted by the rain
A Santa Cruz acid trip in harmony with breaking waves
And then you knock two times, firm and uninterrupted
Like the sun sign you mocked with me
Desire flees to a place of no recollection
There becomes no place I’d rather be than adjacent to the fridge you’ve made your throne
Smoking hanging out of my window
The chateau at sunset
The marina in July
PCH past midnight
All become veiled in the smoke exiting your parted lips
Let’s sit alone for 5 more minutes
Is there room by you, for me?
