Lonely Nights

In the darkness of the night,

When the world is still and quiet,

I find myself alone again,

Lost in thoughts I can't escape.

The silence surrounds me,

A heavy blanket of emptiness,

As I search for some meaning,

Some purpose to hold onto.

My mind races with memories,

Of happier times and lost loves,

Of dreams that never came true,

And hopes that were dashed away.

The night sky glitters above me,

A thousand stars shining bright,

But their light only deepens,

The shadows in my heart tonight.

I long for someone to hold,

To share my dreams and my fears,

To be my light in the darkness,

To wipe away my lonely tears.

But as the night wears on,

I know I'm truly on my own,

And I must face the darkness,

Until the dawn breaks through.

So I close my eyes and pray,

For strength to face the night,

For hope to light my way,

And for love to ease my plight.

For even in the darkest hour,

I know there's still a chance,

To find the love and connection,

That will bring an end to lonely nights.
