Quick Note: this free verse is a little about self-doubt, the things that sometimes bring us down and learning how to break the dis-identification from the mind - I.e taken from Eckhart Tolle’s books.

“You are not your mind -

You are not your thoughts” -

Someone had to remind me of this,

As we are all so much more than

These limiting constructs!

Those stories created by our minds, mean very little

in the grand scheme of things.

I am not a filthy vermin even it it feels like it at times!

We are not even a lump of human flesh -

(Even if it might feel that way on occasion too!)

We’re expansive, all connected —————

— tied together with our similar energies/personalities,

our collective consciousness, our perceived imperfections &

Our overriding connection with source and our planet.

* *

Why, I must ask, do we sometimes feel the compulsive need

To tear ourselves down?!

Is it, because we’ve been torn down by others before?

Or do we think we are fundamentally a bad egg?

Trust me, no one is perfect - even if they try to convince you otherwise,

Listen to the silence,

not the ‘sounds’ - that amount to far less.

Silence is where the answers are - where real peace can be found -

If you just know how to listen…

Resign your control of others’ thoughts,

Focus on you and don’t allow others to dictate our identitities.

Squash those hurtful words from neigh-sayers & sweep these up to be disposed of

“You are not your mind -

You are not your thoughts”.

If, effectively, we are all connected,

then others’ ridicule (in the past or present)

Is a reflection of their own perceived faults & deficiencies.

So, be your own best-friend (a friend Rick - [hi Rick 👋] recently told me)

Something TBH I’ve frequently forgotten how to be,

But self-care & self-love is how (it is said)

One can take their power back!

Adapt to a total and complete acceptance of what is, right NOW,

Rather than trying to fight it (it doesn’t work..)

I miss my best-friend -

Maybe you do too - and we’ve forgotten how

To traverse the divide between our true spirits and our bodies.

Be grateful for what you have and reclaim your power,

Your zest for life, your.. friendliness with yourself.

Take YOUR POWER back!

Focus on your breath & the here right now,

Be a light for others too in order to help raise yours,

There’s far too much darkness in our world,

To stay trapped in its recesses for such a long duration!

Be a light for your neighbours, friends and family.

What’s just one thing I can do today to improve my life or that of another?

Ward off those demonic forces, no matter how tempting & perversely

it feels resigning oneself to the darkness.

Rise up

Chin up

Reach out!

And in the words of the Prophet Super Mario:

“Heeeere I gooooooooooo!!!”

This was very raw and heartfelt and truly inspirational. I hope you can see from all the comments just how much your voice is valued and means something to this community. I'm sorry you've been struggling so much. One of my loved ones has been very overwhelmed with anxiety and we are finally getting them to a better place. Thank you for sharing these wonderful words, my friend. And congrats on TS :)

Been telling you that from day one we met. Introvert that you are. It has been a while and you came back swinging for sure. Just embrace the deep thinker that you are and know that it is a good thing, just project into positivity. Congrats.

I love this. Sometimes I'm not happy with some of my thoughts. I think, wow, did I really just think that? You don't have complete control over your brain. It throw you curve balls.
