False Hope

Letting my thoughts run wild

I tell myself over and over not to worry, that my grandma will be just fine. But the doctor says she has 5 days to live and can't have any visitors. I pray that God will keep her safe. Even though I believe in God, I'm still a kid who questions everything, so it's baffling to be praying to someone I can't see. He has shown me miracles in the past, I hope He shows me another.

Just as things got better the immediately got worse.

My grandma came home from the hospital and everything was going smoothly. There were no flaws in the flow of the transition from the hospital to the comfort of our home. She rested for a while but eventually got overwhelmed with the clutter that had been put off. She would have normally picked up our slack but was confined to 3 rooms; her bedroom, the bathroom, and the living room, the kitchen was not one of them. While all of us were occupied with one project or another she made it her goal to reorganize the fridge and clean up the clutter. As she began to wobble towards the kitchen she stumbled over a piece of debris that had fallen off of the counter. She fell as if she was encapsulated in zero gravity, slow motion. When all of a sudden she was moving fast, too fast. She knew that when her body collided with the floor nothing good would come of it.

Turns out she had broken 3 major bones and had internal bleeding, the doctor says she has 5 days to live. I told her she was supposed to rest. I knew that she wouldn't last for much longer, I knew I was never going to see her again.

If only she would've listened...
