Fading Memories: The Death of Childhood
This poetry is a poignant reflection on how our childhood fades away as we grow older. It evokes a sense of melancholy as it compares the carefree days of youth to the responsibilities and pressures of adulthood.
As we grow old, our childhood dies,
The memories of those golden days, how time flies,
Days were spent playing in the sun,
Carefree and wild, having fun.
The laughter echoed in the air,
With friends by our side, without any care,
Running through the fields, chasing the breeze,
The world was a playground, our hearts at ease.
But now we're grown, the world is grey,
Responsibilities come, day after day,
The carefree laughter is gone, replaced by a sigh,
We miss those days, our childhood goodbye.
Our minds are now filled with worries and fears,
No more time for play, we shed our childhood tears,
We long for those days, when life was simple and sweet,
But now we're old, and the memories are all we can keep.
Oh, how we wish we could turn back time,
To those carefree days, when life was sublime,
But as we grow old, we must bid our childhood goodbye,
And hold onto memories, as the years pass us by.
As years go by, my childhood fades,
And with it, memories of carefree days,
When all I had to worry about
Was the latest toy or game, no doubt.
Now I'm grown, and life's demands
Have taken over, with no second chance
To relive those days, to be young and free
To run, to play, to simply be me.
Sometimes I long for those simpler times,
For sunny skies and nursery rhymes,
For laughter and love, and family ties,
For all the things that made me feel alive.
But I know that childhood cannot last,
And that growing old is part of the past,
So I hold onto those memories dear,
And cherish them as the years disappear.
For though my childhood may be gone,
Its spirit lives on in my heart, a song
That plays on and on, a joyful tune,
Reminding me of days, long gone too soon.
