See the flashing warning lights

Blazing red to match the ties

Of shining armored knights

Turned dragons in disguise

Breathing our fiery demise

With their poisonous lies

*

Hear the people in the street

Begging for a crumb to eat

Crying out come rescue me

While the powers that be

Ignore their anguished pleas

To end their uncertainty

*

Feel the crippling worry start

Like an invisible venomous dart

Stinging, seeping into your heart

LIves splintered and torn apart

As all securities depart

Leaving behind no hope to impart

*

Smell the acrid cloud of smoke

Stifling as you gag and choke

On the promises you revoke

Purses once flush with cash now broke

Consumed by the flames you stoke

With the battle lines you invoke

*

Taste the bitter salt

Tears on the faces of default

The one you failed to halt

The American dream we sought

Is now all for naught

And it’s all your fault
