Some people, taught to love themselves by loving parents

Find it so easy.

But we who didn’t,

We who worked

We laboured so hard;

Therapists, self-help books,

Thoughts and feelings

Sobs and tears.

We unpicked the knots.

We let out the emotions,

And at last, we learned to love ourselves.
