Endless Time At The Beach
An Ode to Lake Huron
Growing up on the Eastern shores of Lake Huron,
Water becomes the True North of your compass.
Winters are all the more brutal, and beautiful, for it,
With Lake Effect Squalls whiting out everything in sight.
Great mountains and burgs of ice stab the sky,
Tempting daring adventurers out onto their sheets.
Glittering spears drip down blue volcanoes of death,
And flowers of ice blossom in rolling fields where none will tread.
Short Spring brings locals flocking to warm sands,
Kissed by liquid ice and startling blues.
Only the crazed dive into its frigid depths,
Numbing their extremities and taking their breath.
Yet as Summer approaches, time seems peculiarly slow.
Hazy days on the hill gives view to magical ships,
Seemingly floating through the sky -
For the boundary between it and the water is imperceptible.
Sweet frozen cream cools the tongue,
While sand grits between the teeth.
The skin becomes deliciously burnt by the sun,
And gloriously relieved by the soft waves licking the ankles.
While Autumn creeps seamlessly upon the land,
The warm waters tempt swimmers to tumble in its rough waves.
Five foot, six foot, ten feet tall, they threaten to sweep you away to Neverland;
Where you may never age again, if you are not careful.
Dangerous, beautiful, calming waves.
Forever calling to your soul.

"A lover of literature from a young age, reading has always been my escape. I began writing recreationally at the age of ten and haven't stopped since. Fantasy is my preferred poison to both read and write.."
