Ellen

The day

By Gregory AndersonPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Who will be next to sit in that chair

Will you even see that they are there

Maybe one day I will sit that chair

The audience will see me sitting there

We will talk of important things

The spark of life and the hope of dreams

The burden we carry and what it all means

We are more than the colors put on display

For equity and freedom there has been a high price to pay

Pride in who we are has helped many pave the way

You have arrived that much is clear

The legacy you leave has lifted some out of fear

Given a voice to some to say we are here

Like the sweet notes of a songs refrain

Ellen oh Ellen we thank you again and again
