Early Walk in Summer

Nature's calm before humans storm

Like bears wakening from hibernation

Campers arrive to stake their pine tree plots

I stroll with my dog in expectation

Craving to freeze time, frame the perfect shot

Serenaded by harmonized birdsongs

Two cranes model gracefully as they preen

Stalked by a fox nestled in grasses long

A hawk silently circles above -  serene

A duck launches in flight, others glide in

Dagney seeing a deer growls a warning

Stick begs to be caught and thrown again

Chipmunks and hummingbirds greet the morning

The first days of summer are approaching

Nature's creatures sense humans encroaching
