Each new breath, a blessing
Every new sigh, unique in its own way
Common is each breath we take
yet uncommon in it's specificity
Each signals a renewal, a continuation of a life
each breath inhaled or exhaled
Holds the essence of our being
grasped firmly betwixt it's fated loom
Each thread spun upon this breath
may be a baby's first or a soul's last sigh
Aerobic creatures are we all
oxygen, as a life force, gifts us cellular respiration
Energy, extracted from reaction of oxygen with molecules
is a derivative of foods we eat
Carbon dioxide is then produced
enabling our bodies to cleanse and renew
Breathing, external respiration, brings air into our lungs
gas exchange takes place in alveoli through diffusion
Our System, Circulatory, transports gases to and from cells
"Cellular respiration" takes place
Each new breath is as unique as a new day
In the beginning:
We were formed from the dust of the earth
the breath of life was breathed into our nostrils
We became living creatures
in an alternate beginning
We breathed our first breath
upon the creation of a big bang
It matters not what or how we came to be
treat each new breath with love and care
Each first breath is our last!
each last breath is our first!
Each as different as night and day!
each is unique, each is new!
