Dusk
Randy Baker's Prompted #5 Challenge (Second Entry)
Based on Randy Baker's Prompted #5 Challenge (my second entry):
Where is my mind? Quietly,
I consider the Pixies lyric (yesterday,
I saw it in the penultimate scene; time
After time – another lyric – I think of a rhyme
(no luck with my search).
*
I’ll try again: it is a beautiful night.
It’s an inspiration for any writer: the sight
Beneath me on the page, the punches thrown…
Am I involved with this challenge at home?
Am I just a complete unknown?
*
One moment of distraction leaves me open.
Guess I should not talk about it…hey, wait…
*
Words used: night, sight, moment, quietly, yesterday, free, home, unknown, rhyme, time, open, search, beneath

Great distracted prose and that first line was killer
Am I a complete unknown? Yes resonates with me
Hahahahahahahaha that ending, soooo relatable. Loved your poem
I love how you break the fourth wall in this piece and how it feels like you're composing the poem as we are reading it. Really well done, Kendall!
So beautiful ❤️
The way you interweave lyrical references and introspective thoughts creates a captivating atmosphere. The contemplative nature of the poem, coupled with the evocative imagery, draws the reader into a moment of quiet reflection. Your ability to capture the essence of dusk as both a physical and metaphorical transition is truly impressive. Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful and beautifully crafted piece.
