Wind in My Hair

There I go, there I go, there I go again.

Driving fifty-five

Down the drive.

Blasting Luther Vandross on the car stereo.

No shoes. No socks. No cell service.

Because it’s 1988

And I’m feeling great.

Wind in my hair

And I don’t care.

Got the windows wide open.

(But not all of them because then I can’t breathe)

And I’m driving fifty-five

I’m enjoying my ride

In my heavy green solid steel car.

I have no idea what make or model or year.

It just gives me a cheer

To drive fifty-five

Down the drive.

Blasting Luther Vandross on the car stereo.

Barefoot.
