Sleep if you dare, for the night is never truly silent…

Hush now, sweet one, close your eyes,
The dead don’t stir, the lost don’t rise.
But if they did, they’d crawl and creep,
To drag you down into the deep.
-
The wind is wailing through the trees,
A hungry sound upon the breeze.
It knows your name, it calls, it sings,
Of hollow bones and shattered wings.
-
The night is cold, the stars are red,
A whisper floats from ‘neath your bed.
Not rats, not wind, nor creaking floor—
It’s something else… and something more.
-
So rest, my love, in crimson shrouds,
Beneath the gaze of watching clouds.
And if you wake to screams, don’t cry—
It’s just the dark… kissing goodbye.
