Down in the Labyrinth

To be human is to be wounded

To be human

One of the most complex things to be

(“Or not to be”)

Multifaceted labyrinth

An intricate maze

Clouded by inextricable haze

Veiled by cumbersome weight

Emotions, physicality

Physiology, spirituality

All intertwined with

Trauma, pain

Suffering in vain

Feelings, sensations entangle with the body

Begin to feel disembodied

Time moves so fast

Hard to keep up with the past

Everything that’s created pain

Unconscious beliefs and drives gained

Drive you straight to the bane

Of existence

To think, the repressed instincts

Cause us to run round and round

Never making a sound

Just go go go

Do do do

Don’t you dare stop to think about it all

Or you’ll be torn in two

When schism

Becomes defense mechanism

When brain and body

Operate autonomously

Detached division of body and head

Holds you together by a thread

Keeping with body’s stride, pace

So head doesn’t float off into space

Compartmentalize to keep up the façade

Not realizing the fraud

It would take an act of God

Lightning strike exacting a lightning rod

Divine intervention

Only the best intentions

To get your attention

To confront what’s beneath the surface

Face the shadow down with purpose

Take the schism and come to know each half

Reintegrate them to align on your path

Maybe with a laugh

With a chuckle

Because it was always so simple

And yet the hardest thing you’ve ever done

The most important thing under the sun

That which no one can do for you

Though others can shine their light to guide you

But ultimately, it is up to you

So

Be human

Get hurt

Feel your wounds

Lick them if you need to

But then

Move onto the next step

Level up

Don’t let yourself get stuck

Keep climbing the ladder

Get bigger and badder

Be as sane as the mad hatter

Because once you’ve gone to hell and back

Descended into the trenches of your own madness

You’re sane in a way you never knew to be possible

And suddenly you’ve become unstoppable

From down in the labyrinth

You ascend

To re-enter the world

And begin again
