Down By the River
"Never before had I experienced..."

Never before had I experienced
Such perspicuity
Until I saw the water.
It flowed,
So leisurely,
So casually,
So effortlessly.
I was perplexed by its clarity
And peaceful motion,
As if the valleys cried
Teardrops that could purify
The souls of lonely travelers
As they venture on to
Greater things.
The crystal clear reflection that
Stared back at me was unbroken,
There wasn't a single piece
Of distortion
And for the first time in
What felt like a millennium
I felt whole.
