Do Not Disturb... Unless You are Worth Eating
A Song of the Dragon King
“Do Not Disturb… Unless You Are Worth Eating”
From pained, undefeated slumber ‘woke…
“Lies, lies!” Not a word of truth they spoke.
Rose the monster, a broke wounded form,
Of ancient rage, come a quiet storm.
Bigger, faster, meaner and much more…
The cowards know not, what is in store!
More than all that, this vengeful old soul,
Many tried, never his resolve stole.
Through years of wounds and memories’ scars,
A child of morning and eve'ning stars…
Glints of wrath pass through keen age’d eyes;
Flashes of his gods cross darkened skies.
Gazing upon oblivious foes,
Fire - long silent! - in his heart grows!
Contemplation of their gruesome fate…
Their dawning awareness comes too late!
The Dragon, disturbed, comes to power,
Worms shrink under his fierce, stern glower.
To acknowledge them, more than they’re worth...
No matter! This justice shall move forth.
To reward those fools their insolence,
The aggravated pass the sentence:
"To ‘selves for all eternity chained!"
A solution, a wicked grin gained…
Almost more trouble than was needful.
A bunch of fools, barely a mouthful…
Tasting nasty, rotten, gooey… black!
Not much, not much… for a midnight snack.
Back to his restless, exhausted sleep…
Counting his blessings; never a sheep!
He dreams of lost loves and secret isles,
Chuckling… - just a moment - he smiles.
