desire exists

an eternally blank canvass.

"Squirrely-Q" ⸘jason alan‽ [acrylics on 8"x8" canvass]

the night doesn't scare me anymore.

but the darkness does.

i don't know if it's ironic,

or if it's a lazy contradiction.

play the field while the physical persists

for the universal,

metabolic abolishment;

fubarmental, discrepant allergens.

ever the nerve

to think more defiantly.

hold every inch;

my own dirty little secrets.

i have no need to ask.

and i tell anyone who hears.

chaos managed by mention and austere.

is there any restriction more giving than denial.

is there anything else, just, more.

just, more

than i could have ever

wanted.

more

than broken mirrors.

desire exists,

an eternally blank canvass.

trust the faithful and fear the religious.

if you remember the message,

the words are irrelevant.

simple sentiments.

ever-rewardless,

this task the messenger has.

tender nerves calloused

thick,

rebelliously saturated.

but now that is who she is,

making that face longer than recommended.

a mother's unheeded simplification,

still heard and tasted,

not yet lived-in contemporarily.

we were supposed to be so

many things;

but, not all of them.
