Deer, Oh Deer

Deer, Oh Deer
Photo by Robert Woeger on Unsplash

Deer bounding freely like blown leaves on the ground,

For miles and miles,

To wherever their wild and uncaged hearts desire.

***

Their mix of light and darker colors blend into the wooded surroundings,

Making it almost impossible to catch a glimpse through the trees,

Protecting them from the stalking eyes of predators.

***

The pounding of hooves and occasional grunts fill the air,

Along with the snapping of branches and rustling of plants and bushes,

Leave behind a trail of broken twigs and unanswered questions.
