Dear Daddy

A poem I wrote to my dad.

Dear Daddy

You don’t know about the times I've been cold and outside

Or the time I was drunk and got in a vehicle with random guys.

You don’t know about the time I woke up covered in blood and alcohol

And you don’t know about the guy who threw me against a wall

I hope you like your new house and the yard you spent hours to make look great

The hours that I spent pinned down getting raped

I hope you and wife are happy and sleeping well at night

Because while you were sleeping I got in a drunk bar fight

I hope you love your mustang that you saved up to get

With my savings I went out and bought a couple grams of meth

You don’t know about the tears the anger or the fear

And I do a really good job of covering it up when you’re near

Dear daddy

I hope you got what you wanted in life and you have a legacy that lives on

because when you’re finally where you want you might realize that your daughter is gone.
