How do you define poetry?

1a : metrical writing : verse. b : the productions of a poet : poems. 2 : writing that formulates a concentrated imaginative awareness of experience in language chosen and arranged to create a specific emotional response through meaning, sound, and rhythm.

New age poetry is on the horizon.

Today "poet" is a more loosely coined term as the new age poets begin to arise giving poetry life in a fresh outlook, and a new perspective.

Poets such as RH Sin, Robert M Drake, and Michal Faudet are making quite a name for themselves by breaking the “norm” on what the term poetry truly means. Their productions of poetry is formulated to still create those emotional responses, but in a new language that grasps the readers attention in a whole new light.

Poet's today take the gift of language to new heights. In modern poetry, there are no rules, creativity is key, and it is the best attribute to work with during this generational change.

The lack of rules are taking the literary world by storm. It is now socially acceptable to use any words, any punctuation, placement in the middle of the page, the bottom of the page.

These new found ideas are pushing creativity to new heights and have caught the reader's attention through a new formulation of the english language.

New thoughts, ideas, triggers, empathy, positive words, affirmations, struggles, and personal growth are all themes that are corresponding with this new poetry.

Words are used in a literary way to not only grasp the reader’s attention, but to pull them in and dig deep within themselves. Many of the writings I have researched for this article in my perspective are struggles that we have all gone through- a testament that you (the reader) are not alone in experiencing these thoughts, feelings and emotions. These writings pull forth that inner pain and struggle, just enough to push the reader to understand that they can overcome this.

These new age writers bring about unorthodox methods to reach out to their following in support of those who have faced enormous pressures throughout life as a reminder that you are not alone. Others have gone through what you are going through, so why not write about it. Words are a powerful thing to possess. These new age literary pieces are a reminder that we as humans, together, can make it through.

In another aspect, poetry has really manifested itself into being a safe place for the writer to be able to express these emotions in the most raw, and truthful way.

Poetry is a reminder to us to break out of our shells that we have made ourselves and to pursue our dreams not half-heartedly, but solely with your entire being.
