Darkness Within

As the days go by
You search for reasons not to cry
Never at all finding one
And screaming at the top of your lungs ' I'm done!'
When the darkness within
Smiles its black-toothed grin
You had best believe
You'll not be granted a reprieve
And as the darkness creeps further in
Digging its claws into your skin
You let it take control
While you retreat deep into your hole
It's easier that way
Instead of dealing with the day-to-day
To wrap yourself in darkness' embrace
Is sometimes the best way to save face
