"Darkness and Despair"
"A Poem of Pain and Sorrow"
Pain and sorrow, darkness and despair In this world, they're never quite rare A broken heart, a shattered dream Things that make life not what it may seem
There's a darkness that can't be lifted A sorrow that can't be shifted An ache that can't be soothed A wound that can't be smoothed
There's a pain that cuts so deep A wound that's hard to keep A sadness that just won't depart A weight that crushes the heart
Life can be cruel, unfair, and tough A game of cards that can be rough Sometimes there's no happy end No silver lining around the bend
So if you seek pleasure in every verse This poem won't be your universe For it speaks of pain, not delight And of the darkness that steals our light.
