Ode to an eclipse

Every now and then the sun shines

Correctly bright. Sometimes too bright

Leaving too much light. When it does I

Instantly need it to be dark, so dark a

Purgatory of shade never apart. I’m

Seeking shadows where darkness only

Extends. I hope the unlit never ends.

I like how this sees an eclipse as a positive event, rather than the usual harbinger of doom we see in a lot of other entries. "so dark a Purgatory of shade never apart."- stuck out to me. Great use of caesura too Joe!

So introspective. All about the speaker, not the sun!
