Dark Eye On The Marble Floor.

A Poem.

They put their hand upon your eye,

Cut off the dark, shining curls that lie,

Select the needle for the thread, oh my,

Now cocooned in a web, sinking into the silent sky.

The lights flicker, slowly dim to twilight's embrace,

The price you pay for gazing at the sun's fiery face,

The cost of truth and knowledge, we must embrace,

The moral sin of speaking out, a dimming grace.

Ebony eyes and thin lips, they whisper anger's cry,

Hidden rage of being exposed, no more secrets to belie,

Put a grey sheet in the window, let the world pass by,

Sweep the dirt from the white marble floor, no more lies to try.

Clean the blade of the knife, its handle blacker than night,

Now stand for the cameras with a mask, a face so white,

With hidden strings they play their role and take flight,

In this grand illusion, where shadows dance in the pale moonlight.

But remember, dear soul, in this web so intricately spun,

The truth may wither, but it's never truly gone,

For in the darkest corners, where secrets are shunned,

A glimmer of the truth remains, like the morning sun.

So, let the world dim the lights and wear its masks so neat,

But hold on to your essence, in shadows or in street,

For in the end, it's the truth that will defeat,

The darkness of deception, making victory sweet.
