Cracked

October 13th-14th, 2012

Oh, to be whole

To be whole again,

If I ever was

To be whole and

Not cracked, not imperfect

In this ugly way

Looking out on those

Looking in on my despair

My imperfection

Glass and ceramic

Carefully created

So perfect

Yet I’m a crack

A crack in the sea

The water pours in, the tears pour out

This taste

Is bitter

This feeling, cold

A cracked piece of pottery

Can’t go on display

Must be thrown away

It can’t be made whole

No glaze or glue

Can fix it

I’m the crack

The crack in the sea

Reflected in the sky

Nowhere to hide

I have to wait it out

The crack grows

Opened up,

It all comes out,

Everything revealed

Regret from paths not followed,

Disdain for love not given,

Misery results

Oh, to be whole

To be whole again,

If I ever was
