I am

counting

down

the

days,

crossing them off the calendar,

willing the Earth's rotations onward.

They go by far too slow,

but in 22 days, I can hold your hand,

hold you, close the distance.

We pass the time together over the phone,

adjust our plans, so dinner becomes

dinner and a walk through Public Square becomes

spending the night together becomes

you'll pick me up from the airport Sunday morning,

extending our limited moments however we can

until I return home, add the miles between us once more,

and we are back to

counting

down

the

days

again.
