In Albion's green and pleasant land, of old,
Where castles stood and tales of knights were told,
A realm where rivers wind through fields so wide,
And history's tapestry weaves its pride.
From Stonehenge's mystic stones that stand,
To Edinburgh's heights where dreams expand,
In Wales, the valleys echo with song,
And in Belfast, resilience strong.
In London's streets, a bustling array,
Where cultures blend in a vibrant display,
The Tower stands with secrets dark and deep,
While Westminster's voice the nation's keep.
In gardens tended with a loving hand,
Where blooms of every hue adorn the land,
And pubs, with laughter, fill the evening air,
A sense of community, strong and rare.
But now, before the cost of living's sting,
Life flowed with ease, a steady, gentle wing.
Opportunities abounded, dreams took flight,
And burdens seemed to stay out of sight.
For jobs were plenty, wages fair and just,
And homes were havens where families could trust,
To weather storms and hardships that may come,
In this island nation, under the sun.
Yet shadows loom as costs begin to rise,
And worries deepen in so many eyes.
The UK, once steady, now faces strain,
As people ponder, what's to lose, what's to gain?
But let us not forget the days of yore,
When life was simpler, and spirits soared,
For in our hearts, we hold the strength to cope,
And find resilience, boundless in hope.
So let us cherish all we have today,
And work together, come what may.
For in the heart of Britain, come what may,
Resides a spirit that will never fray.
