Being comfortably sad is swaying in a hammock as the sun is setting. A busy day has ended, and relaxing is splendid. However, tasks remain unfinished and a project's deadline looms near.

Being comfortably sad encourages sympathy for those starving, despite food left to rot in fields. Why lash out in anger at the powerful and let sin into this heart seep? Don't interpret this as being complacent toward the world's despots.

Being comfortably sad is the proper prelude for when the announcement of a mass shooting airs on the news. Sadness comforts the reminder of the evils humans are capable of. It tempers anger from rising up too far like boiling water flowing over the edge of a pot.

Being comfortably sad is eating dark chocolate when having a terrible day. It soothes the frustrations and disappointments away. Tears of sadness fall while savoring the sweet release.
